Memories of Standing On The Edge

(For Nicholas 1975-1994)

Standing on the edge.

Waiting to fall.

There are no words of kindness.

There is no saving call.

The wind pushes your face,

Cold in a warm thrust.

The ground looks so peaceful below.

Soft silent dust.

The birds haven't been singing today.

The sun shines like a wall

Heat surrounds the area.

It's perfect for the fall.

"Can't any of you understand.

The love for her I feel.

Then she went and left me.

This wasn't in the deal.

This isn't going to be your fault.

I don't blame you at all friend.

But it is because of your mistakes.

That she went and made her end."

The note is written well.

Stepping so very close.

And then were off to hell.

Him, her, and me the most.

Long time friend that has past.

I think I understand.

The pain of love in glass.

The joy of time so grand.

Now it's time to let go.

Another year is lost.

I have bought your freedom.

But you have paid my cost.
